Home Renovation

For this project, the clients were looking to update an 80s renovation to a modernist home originally constructed in 1960. The main focus of the renovation was a desire to expand the existing mezzanine level to make it a true primary suite. We were tasked with determining the maximum size of the expansion that would not trigger a retrofit of the steel moment frame lateral system.

Additional scope included removing a bearing wall between the kitchen and living areas and providing the engineering support for a new custom spiral staircase.
